In a new issue of Premises and Facilities Management magazine, Chris Curry – Energy Transition Consultant – discusses how building managers can aid the UK’s transition to net zero.
Although many businesses have invested in technologies to help them take control of their electricity usage – such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and metering systems – Chris argues that these systems are often disconnected from one another, causing organisations to lack a holistic view of their energy usage.
By getting to grips with their data, Chris suggests that businesses can make smarter decisions when it comes to optimising energy use in their buildings. He also argues that, in doing so, businesses will open up new opportunities to integrate transitional technologies – such as heat pumps and batteries – in their energy strategies, helping them to further reduce their emissions in the long-term.
