Portfolio Operations Team Manager


Full time Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week; Hybrid working approach

Bryt Energy is a B2B electricity supplier, operating in the Industrial & Commercial (I&C) segment of the retail energy sector. Supplying only zero carbon, 100% renewable electricity, sourced solely from solar, wind and hydro power, Bryt Energy is the largest renewable only supplier in the I&C retail energy sector.

The role is an instrumental part of the Portfolio & Pricing management layer, supporting significant sales growth through effective contract management of both new and existing customers across the whole flex portfolio. Across all processes, accuracy, as well as timeliness, is paramount.


Reporting to the Head of Portfolio & Pricing, you will lead a team of three analysts and be responsible for managing Flex customer contracts post countersignature. You will lead and manage processes that include Flex trade capture and reporting, and the calculation of Flex monthly billing rates (which underpin revenues of hundreds of millions of pounds per year). In addition you will manage volumes under Flex contracts, from volume booking at point of sale through to reforecasts within contract, and the pricing of Flex site additions, as well as supporting wider commercial activity where appropriate.

Efficient, accurate and timely processes are essential to ensure the correct treatment of valuable trading activity and you will bring excellent management skills to ensure quality control and risk governance, as well as delivering excellent customer service. You will identify opportunities for continuous improvements, and be able to identify, justify and implement more substantial process and system change projects as required.

At Bryt Energy, we are hands on in our management approach and you will be required to be actively involved in the detailed tasks, whilst managing and coaching your team.


• Managing complex and valuable day-to-day portfolio operations to maintain all products, including for example, flex customer position management and monthly billing rates, updates to price terms during contracts, pricing site additions in line with contractual SLAs.
• Managing day-to-day operations under the group trading arrangements, including volume booking, forecasting and commodity charges and other fees ensuring policies and SLAs are adhered to.
• Process owner for within contract price fixings, relating to non-commodity and shape costs across the flex portfolio ensuring complete and timely conclusion of the end-to-end processes. The processes require handling of complex datasets and assurance work to ensure data is complete.
• Maintaining controls and risk governance to ensure the team are effectively supporting the business, adhering to policies and providing a seamless service to both internal and external customers.
• Ensuring a strong understanding of our products and commercial risks is embedded across the team, covering all relatable processes both within the team and downstream in other key business areas.
• Work allocation across the team especially during busy Sales round periods.
• Managing stakeholder relationships, internal and external, ensuring good communication and managing expectations.
• Business owner of relevant models and subject matter expert in system and model functionality and capability, ensuring they are reliable, robust, fit for purpose, controlled, and are kept up to date and well documented.
• Continuous improvement mentality relating to the development and improving of existing processes.
• Responsible for team KPIs, providing regular reporting and presenting updates up to Director level.
• Managing a team of analysts, with a coaching style and performance management to support their development and ensure achievement of objectives.
• Key stakeholders will be: Pricing, Sales & Marketing, Finance, IT & Projects and Statkraft.

Education and Training:

• Thorough knowledge of the UK B2B electricity supply industry and I&C flex products in particular.
• Experience or knowledge of B2B electricity contract pricing is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience of people management.
• Qualified to degree level.
• Highly numerate with demonstrable commercial acumen.


Abilities and Skills:

• A good understanding of power trading arrangements, industry settlements, complex customer contract pricing and structures for the I&C electricity supply sector.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office skills; knowledge of VBA and further applications will be an advantage.
• Highly effective organisation and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to delegate effectively and to manage performance.
• Proactive and energetic approach, with a positive attitude and an ability to work well under pressure.
• Flexible and adaptable to respond to changing priorities.
